FAQ
Kid Smiles Pediatric Dentistry P.C. is here for your child's dental needs at all times, especially in emergencies. Please feel free to come as soon as possible to our office in Yonkers, New York, when your child requires emergency dental services.
Most dental emergencies can be prevented with regular visits to the dentist, a proper oral health routine at home, and proper safety and protective equipment.
The American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Dental Association recommend a child's first visit to the dentist by age one. We will review your child's medical and dental history and gently examine your child's teeth, gums and jaws. X-rays may be taken to reveal decay and check on the progress of your child's permanent teeth under the gums.
Our doctors will provide education and information regarding your child's growth and development, as well as oral home care and prevention. Part of our preventive services includes teeth cleaning and fluoride application.
Here are some tips that can help to make your child's first dental visit a pleasant experience:
- Get your child to talk about how he/she feels and what they expect from the dental visit.
- Read child-friendly books on visiting the dentist (such as "Dora's First Visit to the Dentist").
- Try to make your child's first dental visit without any major treatment or appointment.
- Explain the procedure to your child using comfortable words.
Full payment for services is due when the services are provided. We accept cash or credit card payment. If you have dental insurance, we will estimate your dental insurance benefit on the day of treatment and file dental insurance claims for you, however, your estimated portion of payment is required at the time of service. Kid Smiles accepts most forms of dental insurance.
